In April 2021, I joined The Dock Line with the mission to give the magazine a modern makeover. To gather inspiration, I studied magazines like Houstonia, Texas Monthly, and Community Impact. My primary challenge was to enhance the magazine's digital presence without overhauling existing processes. To address this, I set up social media accounts, converted contributor articles into blog posts, assisted in app development, and began transforming the print magazine into online flipbooks.
Reflecting on the magazine's design before I joined fills me with pride. The journey has been transformative not only for the magazine but also for my growth as an artist and project manager.
Beyond my design responsibilities, I coordinate between our staff and clients, managing our project dashboard and aligning it with contracts and run sheets from franchise managers. To streamline communication, I've created various marketing materials such as a feature article guide, updated contracts, and additional perks like social media shoutouts. Collaborating with The Dock Line management team on analytics has helped us refine our strategies and schedules, ensuring smoother monthly turnovers for everyone involved, including freelancers. These efforts have significantly improved communication and adherence to our processes and schedules.

The Dock Line has given me the opportunity to have my hands in almost every facet of marketing and building up a company. I have loved my time and my team and the ability they have given me to grow on my own as well as the power to spearhead many projects that have been invaluable to the company as a whole. Here is a short list of some of my larger projects, as well as a link to my project archive that is ever growing.
One of my initial major undertakings at The Dock Line involved crafting a comprehensive Media Kit showcasing our diverse offerings and detailed descriptions for each. This endeavor predated our recent re-branding initiative. A significant challenge arose from the presence of distinct sub-branding within each department. While this aspect has largely been streamlined since then, I successfully navigated through these complexities to achieve the objective. Remarkably, these Media Kits remain in active use nearly three years later, reflecting their enduring relevance and effectiveness.
Furthermore, this initiative catalyzed the development of various collateral pieces, including flyers, trade show assets, and sell sheets. These materials have played a pivotal role in bolstering and advancing The Dock Line Companies' marketing efforts, demonstrating the enduring impact of this foundational project.
The Dock Line primarily works with small businesses that cannot afford a full-time marketing department. During my time at The Dock Line, I’ve collaborated with over 25 individual clients on various projects under contract. These assignments encompass a wide array of deliverables, including billboards, print collateral, business cards, illustrations, menus, t-shirts, icons, and more. My involvement spans projects such as Logo Design, Branding, Brand Collateral, Advertisement Design, Iconography, Website Design, Social Media Graphics & Templates, and an array of Special Projects. Each client engagement was unique, with my involvement and introduction occurring at different stages of the process. My primary role at the Dock Line Magazine encompasses two key areas: Graphic Design and Editorial Layout. Within this role, I undertake a variety of responsibilities that are pivotal to the publication's success. These include organizing feature stories and coordinating photoshoots, selecting or drafting filler articles, and subsequently designing layouts for them. Additionally, I am tasked with facilitating communication between franchisees, clients, and fellow designers to ensure cohesive advertising and editorial content. Moreover, I play a central role in developing templates, refining processes, and overseeing our project management dashboard to maintain operational efficiency. It's a multifaceted role that requires attention to detail and effective coordination to uphold the magazine's standards and meet deadlines. Scroll through some of the covers I've done.
